Huh, the runes says mjlonir? Either that’s a spelling I’ve never seen before, or the God of Thunder didn’t pay much attention in class. XD

Unf, this scene breaks my heart every time. Sucker that I am, I want to believe that Odin didn’t count on loving Loki as much as he did, which is why he never told him the truth or carried out his plan. Loki was right though in that Thor was always favoured, because even if Odin did love him as a son, he could not let a jotun take the throne. ;_______________;
So finally got to rewatch Thor on DVD and is positively brimming with Loki thoughts and feels, which are so deliciously conflicted.
Tom Hiddleston does such a marvellous job of conveying Loki’s frustration and desperation, despite that he to me is coming off as a humongous douche.
Loki envied Thor all of his life and wanted to be like him, which is why I think he is just as much an arrogant dick as his big bro. Like with his casual comment about how the guard who wasn’t quick enough to tell Odin about the trip to Jotunheim should be flogged. Granted, he’s from an archaic society where corporal punishment is probably exercised on a regular basis and he was not exactly in a happy place at the moment, but he really does sound like a haughty prince when saying it.
I also think that Loki is incredibly stuck up and sensitive. He may like causing mischief for a good laugh, but he cannot tolerate anyone else laughing at him, which his reaction to the servant who chuckled at Thor’s quip in the deleted scenes proved.
Thor has the confidence and self-esteem to manage blows to his pride, which also gives him the ability to change into a better person. Loki doesn’t, due to centuries of neglect and being put down, which is why I think he comes back twice as crazy in Avengers. He can’t deal with that what he did was wrong, so he justifies his actions with his warped philosophy and rage.
Enslaving a whole world because daddy didn’t love him enough are just like Thanos said the actions of a angry, entitled child who completely lacks perspective. He was raised as a prince by the mortal enemy of his biological father. Even if he felt neglected and ridiculed, it is still a damn much better life than many can even dream of.
I don’t think any of Loki’s actions are justifiable. Understandable in the sense that you can identify events and circumstances that led to them, but still not justifiable. The pain of his character however makes him so wonderfully fascinating instead of just another bad guy. You want Odin to give him a good spanking, but then also to give him a big hug and an assurance that he is loved.
These are just my two cents to justify why I will probably buy every movie with him in it and watch until the disc is worn out. XD

It was first brought up over at http://askmrcount.tumblr.com/post/22650451268/you-know-who-would-be-great-together-with-ingrid-loki and I have to admit it’s not a bad idea. They both have massive father-issues, siblings they feel overshadowed by and are totally hellbent on world domination. Plus, they’re both so (IMO) emotionally insecure that they would spend all their time trying to manipulate each other and wouldn’t have time to take over the world! =D

Many thanks to Old-chatterhand for help translating the German, and to my Tumblrless BFF to inspiring this. :D
Hoshit yes, I KNEW I couldn’t be the only one thinking that too! XD

Maybe Laufey wasn’t his dad after all.
I could just have really shitty eye-sight, but aren’t Loki’s eyes green in Thor? ‘Cause in the Avengers they’re clearly blue. Meaning that he could actually be mind-controlled/possessed by Thanos and is really just a little woobie in desperate need of a hug and would not have killed Coulson if he’d been himself! D’X
Or he just used his shape-shifting powers. Probably a lot easier than contacts.
sirairyfairy asked: Just a heads up, Germans in general, and definitely in a major city like Stuttgart, can speak English. At the very least enough to understand "Kneel". Even if only a few people understood, they would kneel, and I'm sure the ones that don't understand would have followed suit. Great movie though!
I know, I’m a European myself who was taught English in school. ;) The scene just had such lulz-potential because of that aspect. Plausible, but something that I couldn’t help but reflect over, like why Thor and Loki would be speaking English instead of Old Norse or some other alien language. If the comics provide an answer to this, I am afraid I am not familiar with it. So I’ll just settle for:

(know source of GIF, please tell me)
STUTTGART SCENE
LOKI: Kneel.
CROWD: *stares blankly*
LOKI: I said… KNEEL!
CROWD: …
LOKI: KNEEL, YOU LITTLE ANTS!
CROWD: … Sprechen Sie Deutsch?

Loved the movie, but this bit bothered me a little. Translated with Google.
